Terma A/S

SCANTER 6002

An X-band, solid-state naval surveillance and navigation radar from Terma, combining IMO-certified high-definition ship navigation with surface-target detection out to a 96 nm radius, near-airspace helicopter control, and AI-based small-drone detection and classification out to 5 km. In service on navies worldwide, including the Royal Danish Navy's Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates.

Overview

SCANTER 6002 is the flagship of Terma's SCANTER 6000-series naval radars, a solid-state pulse-compression X-band system built to detect small, low-radar-cross-section surface targets in rough sea states while doubling as an IMO-certified navigation radar. It monitors surface contacts out to a 96 nautical mile radius and the near airspace out to 10-15 nm and 6,000 ft altitude, tracking and classifying helicopters, propeller and jet aircraft, and can host IFF interrogators for positive aircraft control. A built-in Embedded Tracker (ET2) combines automatic clutter estimation, Interacting Multiple Models track estimation and Multi-Hypothesis Tracking, and the radar carries a full ECCM anti-jamming suite (low-sidelobe antenna, waveform diversity, pulse compression, PRF staggering). An AI classification upgrade lets SCANTER 6002 detect, track and classify small autonomous or remote-controlled drones, including swarms, out to roughly 5 km. Built on GaAs solid-state technology for an MTBF/MTBCF rated three times better than competing designs, SCANTER 6002 equips vessels from border-patrol craft to frigates, including the Royal Danish Navy's Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates, across more than 3,000 Terma radar installations worldwide.
