Overview

Wisp is Anduril's passive infrared (IR) sensor, delivering persistent hemispheric surveillance and automated detection and tracking without emitting any signal, which makes it well suited to high-risk and contested environments where an active radar would give away its location. It is AI-enabled for automated threat detection and can be used to spot and identify people, vehicles and unmanned aircraft, feeding its picture into Anduril's Lattice ecosystem. Anduril and public reporting describe a 360-degree horizontal by 125-degree vertical field of view; an automated small-UAV detection range of roughly 3 to 10 miles (about 5 to 16 km); and the ability to pick up commercial aircraft flying at around 12,000 feet from as far as roughly 93 miles (about 150 km). The physical sensor head is compact, on the order of 15 by 15 by 22 inches. The detection ranges are captured here in prose rather than being pushed into the radar-range field, because Wisp is a passive electro-optical/IR sensor, not a radar, and its physical dimensions are recorded in the physical fields.
