Magura V7

A larger, longer-range successor to the Magura V5 unmanned surface vessel, developed by Ukraine's Defence Intelligence (HUR). Fitted with a twin launcher for AIM-9M Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, it downed two Russian Su-30 fighter jets in May 2025, becoming one of the first uncrewed surface vessels credited with shooting down crewed combat aircraft.

Overview

Magura V7 is a larger, longer-range evolution of Ukraine's Magura V5 unmanned surface vessel, developed by Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) and first shown publicly in May 2025. Built on a 7.2-meter fiberglass hull with a full-load weight of about 3,400 kg, roughly two tonnes heavier than the V5, it cruises at about 23 knots with a top speed above 39 knots, and its maximum range nearly doubled to roughly 800 nautical miles (about 1,480 km), with a minimum autonomous endurance of two days that can be extended to about a week when fitted with an onboard generator. It is rated to operate in sea states up to Beaufort 3, an improvement over the V5's Beaufort 2 limit. Payload capacity rose to about 650 kg, enough to carry a warhead alongside auxiliary systems such as a gyro-stabilized optical turret with thermal and daylight channels, or a twin launcher for AIM-9M Sidewinder air-to-air missiles repurposed as surface-to-air interceptors. In May 2025, Magura V7 drones armed with the AIM-9 downed two Russian Su-30 fighter jets over the Black Sea, a first for an uncrewed surface vessel engaging crewed combat aircraft. Ukraine's Defence Intelligence has continued to field updated missile variants on the platform since, operating it alongside the 385th Unmanned Surface Vehicles Brigade.
