Overview
The MB 873 Ka-501 displaces about 47.6 liters (170 mm bore x 175 mm stroke) and produces roughly 1,100 kW (1,500 hp) at 2,600 rpm with peak torque near 4,700 N-m. Rolls-Royce Power Systems won a new order for 300 MB 873 engines for further Leopard 2 production in 2025. This record covers the bare engine; published weight figures for the combined EuroPowerPack (engine plus transmission and cooling), roughly 1,800 kg, are not the engine's standalone weight and are omitted here rather than misattributed.
