Overview

The Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) is a family of 6x6 cargo and tactical trucks designed and manufactured by Oshkosh Defense for the US Marine Corps, with first deliveries in 1999 and initial fielding in 2001. It is the Marine Corps' rough equivalent of the Army's FMTV: the Marines do not use FMTV (aside from the FMTV-based HIMARS launcher) and the Army does not use MTVR. Wikipedia's own article, citing IHS Jane's, confirms Oshkosh Defense as designer and manufacturer. The baseline MK23 standard cargo variant weighs 13,200 kg curb with fuel, is 8.0 m long, 2.49 m wide and 3.185 m tall at the cab, and carries 7 US tons (14,199 lb) off-road or 15 US tons (30,000 lb) on paved roads. It is powered by a Caterpillar C-12 11.9-litre 6-cylinder diesel producing 425 hp through an Allison HD 4070P 7-speed automatic transmission, riding on Oshkosh's own TAK-4 independent suspension, with a 483 km range and 105 km/h top speed. Variants span standard and extended cargo trucks (MK23/25/27/28), dump trucks (MK29/30), a wrecker (MK36), a tractor (MK31 Medium Equipment Transporter), and a HIMARS resupply variant (MK37) with a materials-handling crane. As of the mid-2010s more than 11,359 MTVRs had been delivered to the US Marine Corps and Navy, plus an estimated 430 export units.
