TRACKX

Patria TRACKX is a light tracked armoured vehicle developed inside the multinational FAMOUS programme funded through the European Defence Fund, in collaboration with Patria's industrial partners and the participating member nations. Patria positions it as a modern, lower-cost alternative to existing light tracked vehicles in the 13 to 18 tonne class. The published technical specification describes the vehicle in APC configuration with a crew of two, a driver and a commander, plus seating for ten dismounts. It is 7.3 m long, 2.95 m wide and 2.0 m high to the roof plate, at a combat weight of 15,000 kg. Maximum road speed is 80 km/h and operational range is 500 km. The vehicle is amphibious with a swimming speed of 4 km/h. Mobility design choices are built around soft-ground and Arctic performance: wide composite rubber tracks 56 cm across, a low and centrally located centre of gravity, 55 cm of ground clearance and a ground pressure of 32 kPa, with independent adjustable hydropneumatic suspension on each road wheel and a near-flat hull bottom made possible by dispensing with torsion bars. Maximum gradient is 60 percent and maximum trench crossing is 2 m. Maximum engine power is 269 kW at 2,300 rpm, recorded here as 361 hp, with maximum torque of 1,423 Nm at 1,400 rpm. Protection is STANAG 4569 Level 1 against both ballistic and mine threats. Rated temperature range is -46 to +44 degrees Celsius, and Patria states the vehicle has been trialled over several years across deep snow, mud, swamp, sand, forest and road networks. Patria describes TRACKX as a ready platform for multiple variants, but as of this record's creation it is a development vehicle under an EDF programme rather than a system in production or in national service, which is why its status is recorded as announced rather than active.
