Overview

CAMM-ER (Common Anti-air Modular Missile - Extended Range) is a distinct, larger-diameter missile within MBDA's CAMM family, not a relaunch of the missile already carried under Land Ceptor / Sky Sabre. Per MBDA's own product page, CAMM-ER weighs 160 kg with a 4.2 m length and 190 mm diameter, versus the baseline CAMM's 99 kg, 3.2 m and 166 mm; Wikipedia's CAMM family entry credits CAMM-ER with an engagement range over 45 km against the baseline CAMM's 25 km, using a larger Avio-built solid-fuel rocket motor, Mach 3 speed, and inertial guidance with mid-course update and active radar terminal homing, engaging targets up to 10,000 m altitude. It shares CAMM's soft vertical-launch technology, two-way missile-to-launcher data link and third-party sensor cueing for non-line-of-sight engagements as part of MBDA's Enhanced Modular Air Defence Solutions (EMADS) family. CAMM-ER is being delivered to the Italian Armed Forces for ground-based air defense to replace the SPADA system, and Italy jointly developed the round with the UK. A navalised CAMM-ER variant, Albatros NG, uses the same missile in a naval-based air-defense role and is not modeled here as a separate record under the site's variant-avoidance convention.
