Overview
The DD5 V3 is the 16-inch-barrel member of Daniel Defense's DD5 series, an AR-10-pattern rifle scaled up from the DDM4 to fire the full-power 7.62x51mm NATO/.308 Winchester cartridge. It uses a DD-proprietary, cold-hammer-forged steel barrel with an S2W (strength-to-weight) profile and a 1:10 twist, a user-adjustable, intermediate-length direct-impingement gas system, and Daniel Defense's own DD5 Rail 15.0 M-LOK free-float handguard. A four-bolt barrel-to-upper-receiver connection increases barrel rigidity over the standard two-lug AR-10 interface. Fitted with a 20-round magazine, it weighs 8.3 lb (3.76 kg) empty and spans 33 3/8 to 37 inches overall on its adjustable stock. Marketed for law-enforcement precision and designated-marksman roles as well as civilian sale, it complements the 5.56mm DDM4 line as Daniel Defense's 7.62mm rifle offering.
