Overview
The Optio-X20 is a tracked light combat unmanned ground vehicle from KNDS, built on the Milrem THeMIS chassis as its platform base and fitted with a turreted 20mm M621 autocannon firing up to 750 rounds per minute out to an effective range of 1,600 m with 100 rounds carried, backed by a 7.62mm MAG 58 coaxial machine gun holding 300 rounds. Its 750 kg payload figure is quoted by KNDS as the maximum load excluding the turret itself, which adds further weight on top of the bare chassis. The product's public listing has since been retired, but the Optio-X20 was a real, publicly displayed system.
Full specifications
Firepower
Armament, payload and guidance.
| Main armament Primary weapon: main gun, cannon or missile type. | 20mm M621 autocannon, 750 rounds per minute, effective range 1600m, 100 rounds carried |
|---|---|
| Secondary armament Additional weapons: coaxial MG, remote weapon station, gun pods. | 7.62mm MAG 58 coaxial machine gun, 800 rounds per minute, 300 rounds carried |
| Caliber Bore diameter of the main gun or rifle. Larger throws heavier projectiles; not simply better, ammunition commonality matters. | 20 mm |
Physical
Dimensions, weight and crew.
| Length Overall length including gun/probe where applicable. | 2.4 m |
|---|---|
| Width Overall width, matters for rail/road transport of vehicles. | 2.15 m |
| Height Overall height. Lower profile is harder to spot and hit for ground vehicles. | 1.11 m |
| Combat weight Fully loaded weight. Lighter eases transport and bridging limits; heavier often means more armor. | 1,700 kg |
| Crew Personnel required to operate. Fewer reduces exposure; autoloaders trade a loader for mechanical complexity. | 0 |
| Cargo payload Maximum cargo the transport can carry. Higher means more lift per sortie. On an unmanned ground vehicle, this is the maximum mission payload the platform carries, including a weapon station. | 750 kg |
Autonomy & control
How the platform moves, how much it does without an operator, and how far the control link reaches.
| Locomotion How the platform moves: tracked, wheeled or legged. Tracks suit soft ground and heavy payloads, wheels favor road speed and range, legs handle stairs and rubble. Not a ranking, a trade-off. | Tracked |
