Overview

Link 16 is the secure, frequency-hopping tactical data link used across NATO air, land and naval forces to share track data, voice and status information between platforms. It runs over MIDS terminals, with General Dynamics Mission Systems (MIDS-JTRS) among the principal U.S. terminal manufacturers; the standard underpins interoperability between fighters, AWACS, warships, air-defense systems and battle-management networks such as Aegis and IBCS.
