The Royal Netherlands Navy's principal air-defense and command frigate class, built around the APAR multi-function radar and SMART-L long-range surveillance radar in a joint Dutch-German-Belgian sensor program. Provides fleet air-defense coverage using the Standard SM-2 and Evolved Sea Sparrow missiles from a shared Mk 41 vertical launch system.
