Japan's second-largest shipbuilder, formed on January 1, 2013 through the merger of Universal Shipbuilding Corporation and IHI Marine United. Builds the Izumo-class helicopter destroyers (Japan's largest warships) and the Maya-class Aegis destroyers for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
