Overview
PARS 3 LR (also referred to by its earlier LR-TRIGAT program name) is a fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile developed by Parsys GmbH, a joint venture of MBDA Deutschland and Diehl BGT Defence (now Diehl Defence), and marketed by Diehl as part of its Guided Missiles product line. It uses a passive imaging-infrared seeker for lock-on-before-launch target acquisition and autonomous terminal guidance, letting the launching helicopter take evasive action immediately after firing rather than continuing to illuminate the target. Its tandem HEAT warhead is rated to defeat over 1,000mm of RHA-equivalent armor behind explosive reactive armor. PARS 3 LR is integrated on the German Armed Forces' Eurocopter/Airbus Tiger attack helicopter, which can carry and fire salvos of up to four missiles within eight seconds; Germany ordered 680 missiles and Indonesia ordered 700 for its Tiger fleet, with Indonesian deliveries beginning in 2018.
